Orphninae (Coleoptera: Scarabaeidae) are represented in the New World by the tribe Aegidiini, which is comprised of four genera (Paulian 1984). Examination of material collected in Ecuador revealed a series of the Aegidiini specimens from an undescribed species that cannot be classified as a member of one of the known genera. The new species is herein described and a new genus is established. Apart from the distinctive morphological characters, the new taxon shows an unusual, for the Orphninae, association with canopy epiphytes.

A new species of Aegidium Arrow from the Atlantic forest ecoregion

The New World genus Aegidium Arrow comprises mid-sized to rather large beetles belonging to 12 species. The genus is distributed up to southern Mexico in the north (Morón 1991) and A. cribratum chileanum Paulian was described from Chile, but Aegidium has not been recorded southeast of the Amazonia. An interesting discovery was made by one of us (P.C.G.) who collected one male Aegidium specimen in the Atlantic forest patch near Nova Friburgo (Rio de Janeiro State, Brazil) — the area separated from the yet known range of the genus by vast territories occupied by the Cerrado biome. Examination of this specimen showed that it belongs to an undescribed species and differs sharply from the other congeners in the shape of its aedeagus.

Установлена новая синонимия трех видовых названий: A. serotinus (Panz.),1799 = A. x-signum Reitter, 1892, syn. n.; A. gresseri Sem. 1898 = A. korgaldzhensis Nikolajev, 1987, syn. n. ; A. chaldaeus Petr., 1971 = A. moreleti Baraud, 1980, syn. n. A new apterous species of the genus Orphnus from South Africa

A new apterous species of the genus Orphnus MacLeay, 1819, is described from Little Karoo (South Africa).  The new species can be separated from closely related O. luminosus Benderiter, 1920, by the shape of the parameres and sculpture of the head and pronotum.

Revision of Metadorodocia Machatschke

The genus Metadorodocia, which is endemic to Madagascar, is revised. A lectotype is designated for its type species, Adoretus vittatus Waterhouse, 1878. A second species of this genus, Metadorodocia frolovi n. sp., is diagnosed from M. vittata and described. Illustrations for both species are provided and their distributions are clarified.

Revision of the genus Delopleurus with description of new species from Africa

The genus Delople​urus Erichson, 1847, is revised. Five new species are described from Africa: Delopleurus naviauxi sp. nov., Delopleurus krikkeni sp. nov., Delopleurus darrenmanni sp. nov., Delopleurus fossatus sp. nov. and Delopleurus pubescens sp. nov. One new synonymy is established (Delopleurus parvus (Sharp, 1875) = Delopleurus cardoni Paulian, 1934, syn. nov.). Lectotype of Delopleurus pullus Boheman, 1857, is designated. Delopleurus janssensi Frey, 1963, is transferred to the genus Metacatharsius Paulian, 1939. A key to the Delopleurus species and locality maps are given.

Abstract—A new species of the genus Orphnus MacLeay, 1819 is described from Kisantu (Democratic Republic of Congo). The new species is similar to O. striatopunctatus Felsche in having a long bifurcated clypeal horn in the male, but can be distinguished from it by the shape of the parameres and longitudinal ridges on the pronotum, relatively slender body, and more slender clypeal horn.
